Projects

Some recent completed projects of mine strongly linked to nature and place...Click to view!

'Urban Intrusions'

Urban intrusions is a project I made in the Spring of 2026 based on my conflicting feelings surrounding living in urban York after growing up in rural Northumberland. The series of life-size tracing paper garments feature illustrations of York and Northumberland - often mashed together in bizarre ways. The paper adds an element of discomfort since the hypothetical wearer would be exposed due to the sheerness, and uncomfortable physically with the scratchy paper. This collection were shown at an exhibition in June 2026 at York St. John's University.

'Rural Intrusions'

'Rural Intrusions' was a spin-off project from 'Urban Intrusions', also made in the Spring of 2026. This collection of objects, made with clay, resin, acrylic, and acrylic paint was largely based on similar concepts of discomfort and unfamiliarity with the urban space. The objects emulate car dashboard figurines, which wobble as the car moves, as they symbolize travelling to different places, and exist somewhat in a limbo between these destinations. The sculptures were shown in the same exhibition as 'Urban Intrusions'.

'Northumberland'

'Northumberland' is an artist book I illustrated and bound by my hand in Winter of 2025. It was an ode to the Northumbrian dialect which has almost been lost, but which has been so beautifully preserved in poems. I included poems by several authors, as well as my own personal recollections of times spent in Northumberland's nature. Each illustration accompanies the writing and is original (not printed). A tree in the wintertime passes through the entire book, every few pages moving slightly along the book, until it passes onto the other side. This too is done on the pages themselves and not printed. It felt important to make everything by hand - a sort of desire for the tactile and real. This is a reflection of the subject matter's focus on reality and nature.

'Parallelograms'

'Parallelograms' was my fanzine-style appreciation work for Linda Perhacs' album 'Parallelograms' from 1970. The music has an unusual sound, surreal at times, but very connected to nature. I designed a CD cover and insert, featuring the lyrics of every song, handwritten on top of an illustration. This album is strongly connected to Californian nature - where Perhacs lived - however I wanted to dedicate my version to my own land/ nature (Northumberland). I used imagery of plants and animals very common to my homeland, and using each song to inspire a the imagery. This project was a love letter both to Northumberland and Perhacs' album.

Music work

I am interested in the collaboration between music and illustration, here is some work about that. Click to view!

Music Posters

I love music and the art that goes along with it - being commissioned to make posters for indie music gigs has been a great way to explore this interest.

Album Covers

I am interested in making album/ single covers for new music and have made some examples of work I could produce for some existing albums. For enquiries, please contact me via email or instagram, thank you.
